Frances Elizabeth Dixon was born on February 6, 1865, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Mary Ann [Hanks] [McCallie] Mathis (1827-1893) and John J. Dixon (1828-1910). She married William Thomas Mathis in Carroll, Arkansas, on January 22, 1882, when she was 16. The family lived in Arkansas before moving to Eastland County, Texas, around 1892. By 1896, the family was living in the Payne Gap area. By 1920, they were living in Lometa, Texas. By 1930, now widowed, she was living in San Antonio, Texas. She was living in Austin, Texas, where she died on December 7, 1933.
Her birth year appears to be wrong on her headstone. It should be December 6, 1865.
