An old Payne Gap Cemetery survey from the early 1970s reports, “Weathered plank marks grave–unknown.” As of August 19, 2026, this grave is unmarked. There are three unmarked graves in a row in this area, and two used to be marked with a span of plank. Payne Gap Cemetery documents says that one is of Albert M. Hunt‘s mother. Albert was a brother to Levi Golden Hunt. That appears to not be the case because Albert’s mother, Sarah Elizabeth Gore Hunt (1829-1879) is buried elsewhere, not to mention the factor of her early death date vis-a-vis the age of the cemetery. However, it’s very likely that the first grave is a Hunt. This grave in this dual grave plot, according to Payne Gap Cemetery documentation, is Albert Hunt‘s baby.
