Mary Lee Wilder Adams died April 21 in a Temple nursing home. She was 76.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Evant Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Nolte and James Hudgins officiating. Interment was in Payne’s Gap Cemetery near Moline in Mills County.
Mrs. Adams was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Hamilton County to the late Edgar Ethan Wilder (1870-1948) and Rowena Lee [Waddell] Wilder (1882-1959). She attended school in Evant, graduating in 1939. She attended NYA school in Waco, studying radio and electronics and worked at an aircraft factory in Fort Worth during World War II. She returned to Evant near the end of the war and began her career as a printer. She retired from the Dallas Times Herald in 1984 and had resided in the Temple area since her retirement.
She was united in marriage on March 4, 1953, to William Alton Adams in Brady. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1979. She was a member of the Flat Baptist Church. She was a member of Dallas Typographical Union 173,1The archives of Dallas Typographical Union 173 are located at the UTA libraries. which she previously served as vice president. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathryn and Hattie, and her brother, John Marlin Wilder.
Survivors include a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.
Pallbearers were Ray Clawson, David Treadway, Sam Miguel and Blackston Bird.
