Mary was born in Bastrop, Texas, to William Eldridge Davis (1854-1906) and Mahala Jane [Baze] Davis (1860-1912). She married Robert Lee “Lee” Armstrong (1874-1940) in 1892. By 1910, she and her family were living in the Payne Gap area. The couple had nine children.
