Wanda Kay Adams, 56, of Bangs, died at 9:40 AM, on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 in her home surrounded by her daughters and friends. She was born February 3, 1960 in Alice, Texas, to Dana and Jean English. She married Jay Adams on November 27, 1982. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2010. She is survived by her three daughters Erin Lassiter of Abilene, Mattie Byler of Bangs, Callie Adams of Brownwood, son-in-law Matt Byler of Bangs, and grandson Jayton Byler of Bangs.
Also surviving are her sisters Debra McKay and Sandy Osborne of Tennessee and brother Jerry English of Beeville, Texas. She also has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends.
Wanda was a resident of Bangs having moved in 1988 when Jay accepted a coaching position at Bangs High School. She taught at Bangs Elementary School as the physical education teacher since 1996 retiring in May of this year.
She loved teaching her students, and interacting with all her fellow teachers. She and Jay loved camping, fishing, and playing card games with David and Cathey McKamey. She enjoyed antiquing and visiting auctions on the weekends as well as building furniture. She built her daughters many custom pieces for their homes with the help of her friend Bobby Smith.
The visitation is from 5:30 – 6:30PM, June 11, 2016 at the Davis Morris Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:30PM on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Bangs First Baptist Church. Pastor Kevin Kennedy of Trinity Baptist Church, Abilene, Texas will be officiating. The burial will be at the Payne Gap Cemetery, near Moline, Texas.
Both Wanda and her husband, Jay, died of cancer.
