James Otis Adams, 88, of Evant, Texas, died April 19, 2014 in Hamilton, Texas. Otis was born December 13, 1925 in Moline, Texas to Clem and Lena (Cook) Adams. He married Bobbie Louise Duncan on November 15, 1947 in Lampasas, Texas. Together they had three children Pam Jones and husband Harold of Paradise, Texas, Terry Adams and wife Becky of Azle, Texas and Paula Pence Adams and Jack of Saginaw, Texas. They have eight grandchildren John Paul, Monica, Reatha, Kyle, Megan, Morgan, Macie, Emily and 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Otis grew up in Moline alongside Bobbie. They knew each other all their lives. Otis graduated from Lometa High School. At 19 years old, Otis joined the United States Navy in March, 1944 and was honorably discharged in April, 1946. He was a Sailor and fought in World War II. Otis was also in a band with one of his brothers and several friends. He played guitar. After his military service, he came back and married Bobbie and they started their lives together and moved to the Ft. Worth, Texas area. He and Bobbie started living in Lake Worth and eventually moved to Saginaw where they lived until moving to their farm in 2012. Otis worked for Ranch House Ice Cream for most of his life and then went to work for the Riverside Ice Company until he decided to totally retire and just put all his energy in to their farm located just between Evant and Hamilton, Texas. Otis loved to be on his 100 acre farm. He and Bobbie enjoyed working hard there and just enjoying the outdoors. All his life he loved to fish when he could and he also hunted on his farm. He kept cattle and constantly kept busy. He always said “if I ever sit down, I may never get back up again.” He loved taking his grandkids to the farm with him too. Otis worked hard his entire life but during his life, he was not only a good provider but a good husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and always made sure he was there for his family.
