Notes
Born in Bee House, Coryell County, Texas, Cordelia (also known as Delia, Dealia, Dee or Dora) was the daughter of John Edward and Lavinia Inch Carrigan. Her sister was Carrie Thomas [Carrigan] Carswell (1882-1963), wife of Walter Byrd Carswell (1882-1965) and mother of Pat Carswell (1907-2002). By the 1910 census, Cordelia and her family, including four siblings, were living in the Moline area. She married James Burton Maxey in 1914 in Lampasas. They had one son, Randolph Brooken Maxey, who was born in 1914. Three years later, in 1917, Cordelia married David Wilson “Dave” Green in Lampasas. At the time of her death due to a heart condition, Cordelia and her husband lived in Lometa, Texas.
Cordelia’s death certificate, which is signed by her husband Dave Green, indicates she was buried in Lometa but in fact she rests in the Payne Gap Cemetery.
