Jeffrey and I recently purchased a used AVID CNC PRO4848 CNC milling machine, and we’ve spent the last few weeks calibrating it and learning its supporting software, which includes Vcarve Pro and Mach4. Without going into detail, it’s a complicated system with a fairly steep learning curve. We have several furniture pieces in the pipeline, and we realized that these designs would be massively facilitated with a CNC machine. So we jumped in!
The 12-block Chair, designed and made by Sam, uses cross-lap joinery featured in the Lincoln Logs building set for children. As Courtenay Smith observed, it also tips its hat to Gerrit Rietveld. The design has eleven interlocking parts, leading to its name, “12-bBlock Chair.”

Very impressive! Can’t wait to see it in person. I bet it was fun to build. Tarina
Many lessons learned … which is what you want!
