Junk Box to Jewel Box

This historic jewel box has been the storage facility for the Duncan family since Glenn Dale Duncan started ranching. Our first step in getting the Payne Gap project off the ground was to empty the schoolhouse. Sam and I cleaned out the unrecylclable and unusable items first. We recycled over sixty tires in the summer of 2019! We organized all the junk into categories. Some of the historic items were placed with the Mills County Museum, including Sam’s grandmother’s 1940s cooking stove. Other items like his grandmother’s gas cook stove and washing machine were given to a couple of young guys who have purchased the old Moline store building. There seems to be a strong attachment to Sam’s grandmothers piano, which we can’t seem to place, as you see in the picture to the left.

Wow, what a transformation. Ya’ll did a great job. Love the original pictures, progress being made and the recycling, especially the piano.
I was amazed at the modernization of this landmark. Hope to see it again.
